The Department of Horticulture and Forestry (DHS) operates in the areas of Horticulture (Fruiticulture, Olericulture, Floriculture, Medicinal Plants, Landscape and Post-harvest), Forestry and Rural Development, developing several lines of research.

In education, it acts on Degree courses: Agronomy, Zootechnics, Nutrition, Architecture and Urbanism, Food Engineering and Bachelor of Rural Education. At the post-graduation level, it acts in postgraduate programs: Phytotechnics, Architecture and Rural Development. Furthermore, the Department has a high activity in the extension and dissemination of technology.
