CEPAN - STUDIES AND RESEARCH CENTER ON AGRIBUSINESS
Current social contrasts caused by the uneven distribution of wealth, public awareness of inequalities, resulting from the dissemination of information, and the new economic, social and environmental pressures, now globalized, to which the country is undergoing, lead to new challenges for society, for which confrontation reiterates the call of the University to fulfill its function. The CEPAN - Centre for Studies and Research in Agribusiness is a response of the university in the field of agribusiness, to this emerging demand.
Organizations involved in Agribusiness
Agribusiness involves flows of goods and services between the industry of equipment and inputs, agricultural activities, processing industry of agricultural and livestock products, storage and distribution systems, the final consumer, waste treatment and management, the effects on the environment and other issues related to the process.It involves, among others, the following aspects of agribusiness: metalworking industry (tractors, agricultural implements, automotive, etc.), fertilizer, pesticides, seeds, matrices, rations, industrial processing and distribution / marketing of food / beverage, oil, alcohol, textiles, wood / pulp / paper, leather / footwear.
The Cepan has interdisciplinary and multi-institutional characteristics, being involved, at an early stage, the units indicated in the following figure. Moreover, shown in the same basic dimensions covered by the center of its activities: physical, scientific and technological and socio-economical.
In some of these units, a course or a part of it is associated with more intensity with CEPAN by its closest nature to the center activities. We highlight the following: the Rural Economy in the unity of the economy, Production Engineering at the Engineering unit and Rural Sociology at the Humanities Sciences unit.
Activities of CEPAN
Teachers participating in the CEPAN focus their activities on three main aspects: studies, academic research and teaching. Studies and research are developed in the form of group and interdisciplinary projects, which may involve individuals and / or organizations outside the educational establishment. On teaching, the CEPAN features the PPG-Agribusiness, which will conduct specialized courses (including in the interior of State), a professional master's degree, academic master's degree and doctoral degree in Agribusiness.
Due to the multidisciplinary nature of CEPAN, the student body is composed of masters and doctoral students in several areas. Then related areas:
